AFTER A FIRST CONTACT, Grifols HAS SAID THAT THEY WILL DO THEIR BEST IN ORDER TO MAKE APOTRANSFERRIN AVALAIBLE FOR VIOLET. DESPITE IT, Grifols HAS SAID THAT THEY WILL NOT PRODUCE APOTRANSFERRIN IN 2005. (DES 04). WE HAVE ALREADY REACHED 2007 AND THEY SAY THAT THEY KEEP ON STUDYING IT (APR 07)
As you have seen in the home page, having apotransferrin is crucial for Violet's life. Now we are waiting for seeing how Grifols can help.
Here there are some clues so as to understand Grifols involvement and how they can help:
1.- Grifols has the knowledge, a world patent and a chance of producing apotransferrin. Product development cost simply does not exist. The production process is easy and cheap, and it does not imply additional investments neither in facilities nor in machines.
2.- Producing apotransferrin has a considerable market potential: it prevents the harmful effects of free iron in an area for which there is no safe and effective means of treatment. In addition, and congenital atransferrinemia being a very rare disease, Grifols will be internationally aknowledged.
3.- Producing apotransferrin is an oportunity to demonstrate the real commitment to society and the conviction to promoting the development of bioethics. Either producing or helping to produce apotransferrin will be real evidence of Grifols high ethical standards.
